Beyond the Build: Welcoming Grace Krause and What’s Next for MEDITECH Organizations

Healthcare organizations are asking more of their EHR investments than ever before.

Implementing and maintaining the platform is no longer the finish line. Leaders are asking whether their technology is actually improving clinical workflows, supporting a strained workforce, strengthening operations, and delivering measurable value for the organization and the patients it serves. For MEDITECH organizations, that shift changes what they should expect from a consulting partner.

Deep platform expertise is still essential. It is no longer sufficient.

The organizations we work with need partners who can look at a clinical or operational workflow, recognize how it translates into the system, identify the dependencies surrounding it, and connect those decisions to enterprise risk, strategy, and outcomes. That takes an understanding of the technology and the environment it operates in.

It is why we are glad to welcome Grace Krause to Ellit Groups to lead our MEDITECH program and advisory vertical.

Grace’s MEDITECH career did not start in an IT department. It started inside four community-based clinics, two primary care, two urgent care, that she managed at a community hospital during the beta implementation of MEDITECH Expanse Web Ambulatory. She learned to build the platform during that first implementation not as a technology vendor, but as an operational leader accountable for the physicians, nurses, and front-office staff who had to use it and keep caring for patients while everything around them changed.

That foundation shapes how she approaches every engagement today. Since then she has worked with health systems across the country on implementations, enterprise assessments, workflow redesign, integrated testing, education and provider readiness, activation, go-live, stabilization, and optimization, always with an eye toward what actually changes for the people using the system.

“Successful healthcare transformation is never just about the technology,” Grace says. “It’s about creating an environment where technology makes healthcare work better, for the people delivering care and the people receiving it.”

A Broader Approach to MEDITECH Transformation

Grace’s charge is to build a full MEDITECH advisory and delivery capability that supports organizations across the entire lifecycle of their technology investment.

“The MEDITECH community is at very different points in its digital transformation,” she says. “Some organizations are preparing for major implementations. Some are stabilizing after a MaaS go-live. Many have been live for years and are asking a harder question: are we getting the full value from this investment? I want Ellit to be the partner that can answer that question at every stage, and be honest about the answer.”

She brings that vision to a foundation Ellit Groups has already built: established experience across advisory, implementation, optimization, managed services, and HIT staffing, delivered by teams who have sat on both sides of the table. Many of our people have served as healthcare executives, operational leaders, and technology decision-makers themselves, carrying accountability for the same decisions and outcomes we now help clients navigate. We pair proven methodologies and playbooks with an approach tailored to each health system, because knowing when to adapt is part of the expertise.

At Ellit Groups, we measure success by the outcomes our work enables, not by consultants deployed or milestones completed. That means stronger adoption, less friction in clinical workflows, more effective governance, a workforce equipped to sustain progress, and technology investments that deliver meaningful clinical, operational, and financial value.

As Grace puts it, “Behind every workflow we redesign is a clinician trying to care for someone. Technology is extraordinarily powerful. But the patient is the purpose.”

Meet Grace and the Ellit Groups team at MEDITECH Live the week of September 28. If your organization is weighing what comes next for its MEDITECH investment, a major implementation, a stabilization effort, or a hard look at the value you are getting today, we would love to talk.
